About AreaCodeCentral

AreaCodeCentral is a modern area code directory for the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. We built it because the legacy directories — some online since 2002 — show population figures from the 2010 Census (now 14+ years out of date), have cluttered ad-heavy layouts, and bury the actual useful information beneath affiliate upsells. We wanted a faster, fresher, cleaner alternative.

Our mission

Give anyone with a phone the context they need to make smart decisions about incoming calls — without selling their data or upselling them to a paid people-search service. Every page is fast, free, accurate, and ad-light. No paywalls, no fake "searching public records..." loading spinners, no scraped address databases repackaged as "premium reports."

What makes us different

• Fresh data: County and city populations come from the 2022 American Community Survey 5-year estimates, not stale 2010 Census figures.
• Clean design: A modern dark theme that loads in under 200ms on any device. No popups, no sticky cookie banners begging you to subscribe.
• Open sources: Every page links to its underlying data sources. We don't claim mysterious "databases" — we use NANPA, FCC, US Census, and Statistics Canada, all of which are public.
• Honest about limitations: We don't pretend to know who specifically called you. We give you the area code, carrier, and spam-risk context — and we tell you when we can't know more.
• Mobile-first: Designed for the most common use case: getting a call from an unknown number and quickly checking it on your phone.

How we make money

We're a small independent project. We may show unobtrusive display ads on a small subset of pages in the future, and we may earn affiliate commissions from reverse-lookup API providers we recommend. We will never gate the core area code, county, city, or carrier data behind a paywall. If we ever change that, this section will say so.

Who built this

AreaCodeCentral is built and maintained by a small team of web developers and SEO researchers who got tired of cluttered phone-lookup sites. The site is built on Next.js 16 with TypeScript, Tailwind CSS 4, and shadcn/ui — open-source tools we love. Source data is auto-refreshed quarterly from NANPA, the FCC, and the US Census Bureau.
